This circus has been cited routinely by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for many serious violations of the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). These citations include: *Failure to provide veterinary care to an African elephant named Nosey/Tiny/Peanut *Failure to provide wholesome and uncontaminated food, shelter from the elements, & adequate space for animals in its care *Failure to provide environmental enrichment for primates *Failure to maintain structurally sound enclosures *Allowing animal enclosures to become filthy, mishandling animals, & withholding food for training purposes. *Also, Liebel was forced to cancel engagements in two cities because it failed to comply with city codes that require a criminal background check on all circus employees.
